Eating Healthy

For years, I have eaten whatever I wanted to eat or what was convenient and easy.  This has undoubtedly led to some of the health issues that I face.  Yet it was so easy to continue in habits.  A cheeseburger or two at a fast food restaurant on a white bun.  Restaurants varied but the theme was a steady one.  Easy meals with processed foods without checking what might be in them.  Nothing that took any time, because I would rather spend my time on doing something else, usually that was a computer game that I was engrossed in.

During this past year, I have stopped playing computer games.  That is still a very recent occurrence, but the effects are wide spreading and one of them has been in my eating habits.  Now, I have time to do things that were previously ignored.  Making a salad, no problem I have the time to do it now.

And, the salads are amazing!  I started with some ingredients and have tried new ones along the way.  I have just this week started to put some meat in them which makes them even better.

Here is a list of some ingredients that I have used:

  • Lettuce
  • Spinach
  • Kale
  • Broccoli
  • Tomato
  • Cucumber
  • Carrot
  • Radishs
  • Pea Pods
  • Green Beans
  • Grapes
  • Raspberries
  • Imitation Crab/ Pollock
  • Olives
  • Ginger
  • Green Onions
  • Lemon
  • Feta Cheese
  • Organic Garlic Spice Blend
  • Smoked Gruyere
  • All Natural French Country Turkey Breast
I don't use all the ingredients each time, but I do use most of them usually.  And the taste is great!

Bon Apetite!

  1. The one on top looks especially delish. There's a place near my work that makes a spinach salad with blueberries, strawberries, red grapes, mandarin slices, and bleu cheese that's awesome. They top it with balsamic vinegar. I made a version for Christmas. If you're ever in downtown Vancouver (WA), there's a place called Fouresse that sells the best balsamic vinegar--very light flavor. It's my new favorite for topping salads!

    1. The bottom one was great too, but I took the picture after stirring so it doesn't look quite as nice.
